The Chess Review magazine

Curious fact
“Game of the Month” was a beloved feature in the magazine. At various points, it was penned by luminaries like Reuben Fine, Max Euwe, and Svetozar Gligorić
Chess Review, a U.S. chess magazine, ran from 1933 to 1969. Initially named The Chess Review, it was published in New York and began as a frequent publication, later transitioning to a monthly format. Isaac Kashdan led the editorial charge in the first year, followed by Al Horowitz, who held the reins until the magazine’s twilight. Chess Review was the main U.S. chess periodical until 1961, when a rival emerged after a major revamp of the official United States Chess Federation magazine, Chess Life. The two publications remained in competition until November 1969, when Horowitz retired and the magazines were merged to become Chess Life & Review.
