Curious fact

Many Jewish chess players took part in the event. Notably, both the winning team, Hungary, and the runner-up, Poland, had several Jewish players on their rosters, such as Lajos Steiner, Endre Steiner, László Szabó, Miguel Najdorf, Henryk Pogorieły, and others

In 1936, the German Chess Federation (Grossdeutscher Schachbund) organized an unofficial Chess Olympiad which was not recognized by FIDE. Schach-Olympia in Munich served as a parallel event to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. Twenty-one countries participated, and the top three winners were Hungary, Poland, and Germany.
