One of the leading chess periodicals, New In Chess (NIC) magazine, was first published in 1984. It offers tournament reports, game annotations by top grandmasters, interviews, and in-depth reportage. The magazine is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and publishes eight issues a year. Nowadays, New In Chess also releases books, a yearbook, and has its own blog and podcast. The editor-in-chief is the renowned chess journalist Dirk Jan ten Geuzendam.
