Telegram from FIDE President Rogard to ex world champion Botvinnik

This telegram was sent by FIDE President Folke Rogard to Mikhail Botvinnik on the 27th of April 1957, the day Botvinnik lost his World Championship title to Vasily Smyslov.“World Chess Federation - FIDE is hereby sending warmest thanks for the fine qualities as sportsman and friend you have demonstrated whereby you have given an outstanding contribution to the FIDE work to bring all chess players of the world together as members of a family united in hope for peace and security in our time and in the future where our children have to live.
