1966 Chess Olympiad envelope, stamp, and cancellation

In celebration of the 17th Chess Olympiad, held from October 23 to November 20, 1966, in Havana, Cuba, a unique envelope, stamp set, and cancellation mark were issued. The event attracted 52 competing teams. The Soviet Union’s team, boasting six Grandmasters and spearheaded by World Champion Petrosian, achieved their eighth successive gold medal triumph. The United States and Hungary followed, securing the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
