Hamilton-Russell Cup is named after its donor, English magnate Frederick Hamilton-Russell and was first awarded at the first official Chess Olympiad in London-1927. The cup is kept by the winning team until the next event, when it is consigned to the next winner
The American team is awarded the Hamilton-Russell Cup upon winning the 6th Chess Olympiad in Warsaw, Poland, in 1935. Team’s roster: Reuben Fine, Frank Marshall, Abraham Kupchik, Arthur Dake, Israel Horowitz. U.S. Chess Champion Marshall is proudly holding the Cup.
